At G-Silver, we are specialists in creating silver jewellery with the option of galvanising your piece. A technique that brings elegance and durability to your creations while keeping your budget under control.
In both cases, the technique involves applying a thin layer of gold to the surface of a silver or brass piece. This operation takes place at the end of the manufacturing process, once polishing has been completed. This means that the piece can no longer be heated or adjusted at a later date. Plating offers a more economical alternative, while providing a visual appearance and finish similar to galvanisation. The only difference lies in the thickness of the gold and the presence of a hallmark and certificate issued to comply with plated regulations. Our jewellery products are regularly tested by the Francéclat laboratory, so we can guarantee the quality of the result. Explore our catalogue now and let be seduced by the unique sparkle of our silver findings and jewellery, enhanced by the exceptional gold plating we offer.
The thickness of gold is generally measured in microns. On 1 micron products, we will deposit 5 grams of gold per kilo of silver, while on 3 microns products we will deposit 15 grams of gold per kilo of silver. The 1 micron option offers a relatively thin layer of gold, which can make the piece more susceptible to damage sand scratches. In contrast, 3 microns plating offers a thicker, more durable layer of gold, which means greater resistance to everyday wear and external damage. Each part is carefully cleaned and degreased before being placed in an electrolysis bath, connected to a cathode by a copper wire. This bath contains a metal solution to be deposited, and electric current is passed through the solution from the anode to create a uniform deposit. The deposit may vary over the surface of the jewel. We guarantee an average that is certified by the Francéclat laboratory. At G-Silver, we offer 1 micron yellow or pink gold and 3 microns yellow gold. We make gold-plated jewellery and findings on request. If you have a project, contact our creative team.
