Several finishings, aspects, materials, colours exist. Each finishing performed on a piece of sterling silver jewellery produces different creative results and brings a touch of personality to the jewellery. Do you want to make jewellery that is light or dark, matt, or smooth, that brings shine or not? Do you want to use a hammered finish? brushed? irregular? Or do you simply want to keep a smooth or matt base and perhaps add some engraving to your jewellery? It is very important to know the different finishings and textures and their importance before creating your collection.
There are several techniques to give your creation a particular artistic expression. We will see together the most used ones and which ones to choose according to the different styles of jewellery.
in jewellery is like the ultimate brushstroke
on a canvas
This is an operation in which a layer of metal (yellow gold, pink gold, champagne, or chocolate gold, white or black rhodium) is electroplated onto your silver jewellery. This operation will change the colour of the jewellery and protect it against oxidation.
In our workshop we can process all your creations in different colours. On our website you can easily choose between White Rhodium or Black Rhodium, Yellow Gold, or Pink Gold. To obtain the pink gold or yellow gold colour, we use the fine gold plating technique, which consists of depositing layers of gold on pieces of silver. Rhodium is used to treat the surface of the silver. This step is done after polishing.
And if you want to personalise your collections with other types of galvanisations you can ask us for a quote. Our customer service is available to advise you on your project and on the colours that best suit your creations for original and varied compositions (for example Champagne Gold, Chocolate Gold, Platinum).
It is obtained by striking the surface with a mallet to give an irregular aspect. This gives the jewellery a pure, antique effect with a timeless look such as our hammered drop medals or our hammered beads that you can find on our online website.
This pattern is created using the reticulation technique. It allows the metal to be textured to create ripples on the surface and thus give a more organic and exclusive look to your jewellery. This technique is used for very original collections. Choose from our medals, charms, and irregular beads.
to catch the light
and give depth to the piece of jewel
This technique is widely used to create unique and personalised silver jewellery. Our category: Ideal for engraving is a real inspiration to create personalised collections, for example for the holidays (Christmas, Mother’s Day…). You can find our rectangular, round, silver medals or photo medallions to engrave a logo, a symbol…
This is a very smooth finish, so smooth that it is possible to see yourself in the reflection of the jewellery, to be used for more classic and luminous collections such as our photo lockets, elongated heart charms or our mirror polished engravable cloverleaf medals. This finishing is associated with engraving, when the surface is smooth and bright, it is interesting to combine this finishing with engraving. This will allow the engraving to be more visible.
discreet or bold,
but it is always the key
to expressing your style
This finishing makes the surface of the jewellery look like it has been rubbed with very fine sandpaper. It is an irregular polishing that gives this matt, modern and minimalist look. On our website we offer brushed medals and beads, but also brushed and hammered charms. A piece of jewellery can be hammered and smooth or hammered and matt. The smooth side will allow to create classic and shiny collections while the matt will bring modern and original creations.
